The project is being developed in southern Bulgaria and is aimed at the agricultural community. It supports the removal of the greenhouse gas carbon dioxide (CO₂) from the atmosphere and its storage in the soil in the form of carbon (C), while improving soil health and biodiversity and contributing to environmental and climate protection.
The Carbonsafe Carbon Farming Project – Southern Bulgaria is a large-scale carbon farming project designed to measure and certify real carbon dioxide removals by increasing Soil Organic Carbon (SOC). The project is implemented on agricultural land in the Southeastern, Southwestern, and South Central regions of Bulgaria, covering areas with intensive agriculture, diverse climatic conditions, and significant potential for the accumulation of organic carbon in soils.
