The project is being developed in Northern Bulgaria and is targeted at the agricultural community. It contributes to the removal of the greenhouse gas carbon dioxide (CO₂) from the atmosphere and its sequestration in the soil in the form of carbon (C), while improving soil health and biodiversity and supporting environmental and climate protection.
The Carbonsafe Carbon Farming Project – Northern Bulgaria is a large-scale carbon farming project designed to measure and certify real carbon dioxide removals through the increase of Soil Organic Carbon (SOC). The project is implemented on agricultural land in the Northwest, North Central, and Northeast regions of Bulgaria and covers the country’s main grain-producing areas.
